I lost access to my authenticator app — how do I get back in?
If your phone is gone or the authenticator app is wiped, the recovery path is your backup codes.
- On the 2FA prompt during sign-in, look for a "Use backup code" link.
- Enter one of the backup codes you saved at setup. Each works exactly once.
- You are signed in. Immediately set up 2FA again on the new device, and save a fresh set of backup codes.
If you have no backup codes left and cannot reach your authenticator, email support@validemailchecker.com from your account email. We verify identity manually before disabling 2FA — this takes longer than a self-service recovery, so save those backup codes the first time.
