What are 2FA backup codes and how do I use them?
When you enable 2FA, we generate a set of single-use backup codes. They are your escape hatch if you lose your authenticator app.
- Each backup code works exactly once.
- They are stored encrypted in our database — you see them once at setup, never again.
- Save them in a password manager (1Password, Bitwarden) or print them and stash them somewhere safe.
- When you use one to sign in, immediately set up 2FA again and regenerate the backup code set.
