How do I reset my password?

The forgot-password flow lives on the sign-in page.

The steps

  1. Go to app.validemailchecker.com/auth/login.
  2. Click the Forgot password link below the password field.
  3. Enter the email address associated with your account.
  4. We send a password reset email within seconds. Check your inbox (and spam folder if it doesn't arrive in a minute).
  5. Click the link in the email. It opens a page where you set a new password.
  6. Sign in with the new password.

The reset link is valid for one hour and can only be used once. If you click it and the page says "expired," request a new one from the login page.

If you have 2FA enabled

Resetting the password does not bypass 2FA. After the password reset, you still need your second factor to sign in. This is intentional — a compromised email account should not grant full access to your account by itself.

If the reset email never arrives

  • Spam folder is the first place to check.
  • Make sure the email address you entered is correct. We don't say whether an address has an account (for privacy), so a typo silently goes to nothing.
  • Corporate spam filters occasionally hold automated emails. Try a few minutes; sometimes they release.
  • If still nothing after 10 minutes, contact support@validemailchecker.com from the email you signed up with. We can verify identity and reset manually.

Changing a known password

If you can already sign in and just want to change your password (because you reused it elsewhere and that other site got breached, for example), do it from Account Settings → Security → Change Password. No email round-trip needed.

Use a password manager
Long, unique passwords for every account, generated and stored by 1Password, Bitwarden, KeePass, or your browser. Eliminates the "I forgot which password I used here" problem and protects you when other sites get breached.
