How to Connect Brevo

One API key, three clicks, and you are verifying.

Generate Your API Key

Log into your Brevo account and click your account name in the top-right corner. Select Settings, then navigate to SMTP & API in the left sidebar under Organization settings. Click the API keys & MCP tab, then click Generate a new API key. Give it a name like "Valid Email Checker Integration" and click Generate.

Important: Brevo only shows your API key once when you create it. Copy it immediately and store it somewhere safe. If you lose it, you will need to generate a new one.

Connect Your Account

In ValidEmailChecker, go to Integrations and click + Connect Integration. Select Sendinblue (Brevo), enter a friendly connection name like "Main Brevo Account," paste your API Key, and click Connect Account. We validate your key instantly and pull in your available lists.

Select a List and Configure

Once connected, you will see all your Brevo lists with contact counts. Select the list you want to verify, then choose Verify Only to review results without changes, or Clean Automatically to remove invalid and disposable emails directly from Brevo. You control what happens to each email type — unsubscribe, delete, or keep.

Tip:"Delete" is permanent in Brevo and cannot be undone. Start with "Verify Only" on your first run, or choose "Unsubscribe" to preserve contacts while preventing them from receiving emails.

Track Results in Real Time

Click Import Listand you will be redirected to the Uploads & Results page. Progress updates automatically — no refreshing needed. When complete, you get a full breakdown of safe, invalid, risky, disposable, catch-all, and more. If you chose automatic cleaning, changes are already applied to your Brevo list.

Managing Your Brevo Connection

Connection Actions

Click the three-dot menu next to any connection:

Sync Now

Refresh lists and contact counts from Brevo.

Rename

Change the connection display name.

Delete

Remove connection. Does not affect your Brevo account.

Updating your API key? If you revoke or regenerate your key in Brevo, delete the existing connection in ValidEmailChecker and create a new one with the new key.

Example names: "Brevo — Main Account," "Brevo — Client ABC," "Brevo — Newsletter." Each connection must have a unique name.

Brevo Tips

Sendinblue to Brevo

Sendinblue rebranded to Brevo in 2023. The platform is the same — just a fresh name and look. You may still see "Sendinblue" in parts of the interface, and that is perfectly normal. Your existing account works as-is.

Unsubscribe vs Delete

Unsubscribe preserves the contact but prevents sending — safe and reversible
Delete permanently removes the contact — cannot be undone

List Count Differences

Contact counts may differ slightly from Brevo due to recent additions not yet synced, duplicate deduplication, or blocklisted and unsubscribed contacts. Use Sync Now to refresh the latest counts.

Troubleshooting

"Invalid API Key" Error

Make sure you copied the full API key without missing characters. Check that the key has not been deleted or revoked in Brevo. Go to Settings → SMTP & API → API keys & MCP and generate a new key if needed.

No Lists Appearing

Log into Brevo and check Contacts → Lists to ensure you have at least one list with contacts. Verify your API key has the correct permissions. Click Sync Now in ValidEmailChecker to refresh.

Connection Works But Import Fails

Check your ValidEmailChecker credit balance — you need enough credits for the list size. Verify the list has contacts in Brevo. For very large lists, try during off-peak hours.

List Count Does Not Match Brevo

Contact counts may differ due to recent additions not yet synced, duplicate deduplication, or blocklisted contacts. Click Sync Now to refresh the latest counts from Brevo.
