Connect to AWeber

What You Need to Get Started

AWeber Account

Any active plan with at least one subscriber list.

Verification Credits

1 credit per email. 200 free credits on signup.

60 Seconds

OAuth login — no API keys to find or copy.

How to Connect AWeber

No API keys. No credentials to copy. Just log in and authorize.

1

Start the Connection

Go to Integrations in your sidebar and click + Connect Integration. Find AWeber in the list and click it. You will see the connection setup screen with an optional name field. Give it a descriptive name if you plan to connect multiple accounts — like "Main Newsletter" or "Client — ABC Company."

2

Authorize with AWeber

Click Connect to AWeber and you will be redirected to AWeber's authorization page. Enter your AWeber login credentials, complete the reCAPTCHA, and click Allow access. This grants ValidEmailChecker permission to access your subscriber lists and — if you choose automatic cleaning — update contact statuses. We never send emails to your subscribers or modify your account settings.

Why these permissions? We need subscriber access to import your lists. The "edit and delete" permission is only used when you choose automatic list cleaning. We never read email content or send emails on your behalf.

3

Select a List and Configure

After authorizing, you will see all your AWeber lists with subscriber counts. Select the list you want to verify, then choose Verify Only to review results without changes, or Clean Automatically to remove invalid and disposable emails directly from your AWeber list. You control exactly what happens to each email type — unsubscribe, delete, or keep.

Tip: Automatic cleaning cannot be undone. Start with "Verify Only" on your first run to review results before enabling automatic cleaning.

Track Results in Real Time

Click Start Verification and you will be redirected to the Uploads & Results page. Progress updates automatically — no refreshing needed. When complete, you get a full breakdown: safe, invalid, risky, disposable, catch-all, and more. If you chose automatic cleaning, changes are already applied to your AWeber list.

Two Ways to Verify

Verify Only

Import and verify your list without modifying anything in AWeber. Review results, download reports, and decide what to do next.

Best for:

First-time verifications
Reviewing list health before cleaning
Compliance requirements

Clean Automatically Recommended

Verify and clean in one step. Invalid emails are unsubscribed or deleted directly from your AWeber list.

Actions available:

Unsubscribe — stays in AWeber but won't receive emails
Delete — permanently removed from your list
Keep — no action, subscriber stays active

Tracking Your Verification Progress

Everything updates in real time on the Uploads & Results page — no refreshing needed.

AWeber-Specific Tips

Unsubscribe vs Delete

AWeber gives you both options:

Unsubscribe when you need compliance records or want to prevent re-adds
Delete for clearly invalid, fake, or disposable emails

Re-authorization

OAuth tokens can expire. If you see a connection error, delete the existing connection and reconnect using the same process. This refreshes your access token and restores the integration.

List Segments

The integration imports your main AWeber lists. Segments within AWeber are included in the main list import. For segment-specific verification, export that segment as a CSV and use bulk file upload instead.

Troubleshooting

"Authorization Failed"

Make sure you are logging into the correct AWeber account and that your subscription is active. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, or use an incognito window to start fresh.

Lists Not Showing

Click Sync Now to refresh. Make sure your lists have at least one subscriber and that you authorized the correct AWeber account during the OAuth step.

Connection Shows "Disconnected"

This usually means the OAuth token expired. Delete the connection from your Integrations page and reconnect to get a fresh access token.

Subscribers Not Updating After Cleaning

AWeber updates can take a few moments to process. Wait 2–3 minutes, then refresh your AWeber list. Check the verification results page for any errors that may have occurred during the clean.

Best Practices for AWeber List Hygiene

Before Your First Run

Start with a smaller list to test
Use "Verify Only" mode first
Review results before auto-cleaning

Ongoing Hygiene

Verify new imports immediately
Clean main lists monthly or quarterly
Monitor sender reputation trends

Recommended Actions

Invalid → Unsubscribe (will bounce)
Disposable → Delete (temporary emails)
Catch-all → Keep (may be valid)

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Connecting and syncing your AWeber account is completely free. You only use credits when you actually verify emails — 1 credit per email, same as every other verification method.

Yes. Connect as many AWeber accounts as you need — one for each client, brand, or newsletter. Each gets its own named connection so you can tell them apart in the dashboard.

Never. We only read your subscriber emails for verification and optionally remove invalid ones if you choose automatic cleaning. We never send any emails to your list, access your campaigns, or modify your account settings.

We import subscriber emails temporarily for verification. After 15 days, verification results are automatically deleted from our system. We never store your subscriber data permanently and never share it with third parties.

No. Once emails are unsubscribed or deleted from AWeber through automatic cleaning, the action cannot be reversed through ValidEmailChecker. You would need to restore them manually in AWeber. This is why we recommend starting with "Verify Only" first.

This permission is only used when you choose "Clean list automatically." It allows us to unsubscribe or delete invalid emails from your list. If you choose "Verify only," we never modify your subscribers in any way.

Currently, you verify one list at a time. This gives you more control over the process and lets you apply different cleaning rules to different lists. You can verify multiple lists back-to-back without reconnecting.

OAuth tokens can expire over time. If you see a connection error, simply delete the existing AWeber connection and reconnect using the same process. Re-authorizing on AWeber's site refreshes your access token and restores the connection.
